The Eucharist is taken to church members and people who are unable to attend church due to illness or other incapacitating circumstances. The communion elements have been blessed in a regular service and the communion is taken as an extension of that service. Twice a month, two lay Eucharistic visitors conduct a Eucharistic worship service at the local nursing/rehabilitation facility.
Skills Needed: Pastoral skills; understanding of procedures of the Eucharist; sense of the awesomeness of the ritual.
Commitment: Varies depending on the number of visits and travel distance.
Training Required:
- Completion of the Community of Hope training program.
- Each person involved in this ministry is licensed by the Diocese. Training is provided and a simulation conducted before requesting a license from the Diocese.
