Get Connected - Lay Eucharistic Visitors

The Eucharist is taken to church members and people who are unable to attend church due to illness or other incapacitating circumstances. The communion elements have been blessed in a regular service and the communion is taken as an extension of that service. Twice a month, two lay Eucharistic visitors conduct a Eucharistic worship service at the local nursing/rehabilitation facility.

Skills Needed: Pastoral skills; understanding of procedures of the Eucharist; sense of the awesomeness of the ritual.
Commitment: Varies depending on the number of visits and travel distance.
Training Required:
  • Completion of the Community of Hope training program.
  • Each person involved in this ministry is licensed by the Diocese. Training is provided and a simulation conducted before requesting a license from the Diocese.
Need for More People: Yes.
