Ultreyas
The word Ultreya is a Spanish word for "onward".
An Ultreya is a meeting of larger groups of people who have either participated in a Weekend, are members of a Group Reunion and/or those who might have an interest in doing so. It is a reunion of reunions. It is designed to foster a sense of community within the Cursillo community of the church, by sharing and witnessing to others in order to reinforce one's faith.
The Cursillo community within St. Stephen's Church conducts four Ultreyas annually. These gatherings are held in McArthur Hall on Saturdays, beginning at 5:30 PM and ending at 7:00 PM. During the meetings you will share in song, have an opportunity to gather in smaller groups to get to know one another better and share your own faith walk if you desire, listen to a "Fourth Day" speaker and then share in a light repast. All who attend are asked to bring a small food item to share - a salad, dessert, finger food, etc. The dates for these meetings are determined early in the year, as an effort is made to conduct the Ultreya shortly after the culmination of a "Weekend", so that the group can hear a brief talk from the new Cursillistas. The specific dates are added to the Church Calendar, published in the Church Bulletins and in the Church's E-Vision prior to the event. E-mail announcements will also be sent to all Cursillistas that we have on record announcing the event.
Like the Group Reunion, these gatherings are meant to help those in the church better understand their individual callings to be Christian leaders.
