Students Living A Mission
WHO WE ARE: We are Saint Stephen's SLAM'n YOUTH; that is Students Living A Mission! Youth Group mission and outreach is a key component of our youth ministry. Focused local mission work for TWEENs, Jr. High and High School Youth includes Deer Creek of Wimberley, Habitat for Humanity, Souper Bowl of Caring, Brown Santa, our JUBILEE Ministry, Hays County Food Bank and Crisis Breadbasket. During the summer both the Jr. High and Sr. High Youth participate in week long mission trips that allow our kids to serve others as we have been directed but these trips are also about the youth learning more about their own relationships in Christ. Our Jr. High youth have partnered with the Good Sam Center in the Rio Grande Valley to serve the children with a Vacation Bible School week which proved to be as important to our youth as it was to the children they served. Our High School youth go out-of-state each year and in the recent years have served; Chicago and St. Louis focused on inner-city ministry, Navajo and Osage Indian Reservations and in summer 2011 in NW Arkansas serving Tornado victim families, as well as children ministries in the Booneville area. Youth are responsible for partially raising the funds for their mission work.
WHERE & WHEN: Youth Group consists of all kids from 6th-12th grades. We meet weekly on Sunday evenings from 4-6pm during the school year in the new YOUTH CENTER @ Saint Stephen's. During this time youth will break into Jr. High and High School groups where they share in discussion of weekly topics, games, Christian fellowship and small group time. The group then comes back together to sing and share dinner and pray together before departing.
Saint Stephen's welcomes ALL youth, even if they are not members of our church, to join us. Our youth groups operate under a team approach where there are 4-6 adults who work to ensure the youth have guidance, supervision and most importantly, adults who they know have a true interest in their lives and their relationship with Christ.
NO Deeper Waters REGISTRATION is necessary to participate in Jr. High or Sr. High Youth; there is no cost. Just show up for a meeting and someone at the church will guide you to the right place.
